Communication & Network Equipment

Magnetics for LAN transformers, signal isolation, and communication / base-station power.

EFD
EFD
EFD Transformers
EFD (Economic Flat Device) cores are flat, low-profile ferrite shapes that minimise height, enabling slim adapters, TV power supplies, LED drivers and high-density SMPS. Their rectangular winding window supports higher power density and better thermal handling than round EP types at similar volume. Typical uses include AC-DC adapters, set-top boxes, lighting ballasts and compact industrial supplies. Selection should consider available board height, output power and EMC / standby-efficiency requirements.

EP
EP
EP Transformers
EP-core transformers use a small, round-center-leg ferrite bobbin that is easy to wind and inexpensive to automate, making them ideal for low- to medium-power isolated conversion. They are widely used in low-power SMPS, LAN / Ethernet pulse transformers, signal-isolation and small control-power supplies. Key strengths are stable inductance, good repeatability and a broad off-the-shelf model range for fast design-in. When selecting, verify primary-secondary isolation (typically 1500Vrms) and the turns ratio against your line / bus voltage.

ER Transformers
ER (Economic Rectangular) cores are medium-to-high-power ferrite shapes with a large winding window for high-power SMPS, PFC (power-factor-correction) chokes and industrial power stages. They deliver strong power handling, low core loss and good heat dissipation, suiting communication / base-station supplies and rugged industrial equipment. Many parts support wide input ranges (e.g. 90-264VAC) and reinforced insulation. Select by power level, operating temperature (-40 to +85C typical) and the required safety / EMC standards.
